Jonathan Rhys Meyers stars as the iconic title character in NBC’s lavish period television series based on Bram Stoker’s classic gothic novel, Dracula. Dracula heads to London with his trusted confidant Renfield (Nonso Anozie) to exact revenge on The Order of the Dragon, a secret society that betrayed him, their king, and cursed him with immortality centuries earlier. The Order has since reinvented itself as members of London’s elite.
He arrives in London with great aplomb and claims to be an American businessmen known as Alexander Grayson, there to bring forth Victorian society into the modern age of science. Under this high society guise he begins in a gruesome fashion to strategically discredit and eliminate his enemies one by one with the help of his new friends, scientist Abraham Van Helsing (Thomas Kretchmann) and journalist Jonathan Harker (Oliver Jackson-Cohen). However, a problem emerges when he starts to have feelings for a Harker’s fiance, medical student Mina Murray, (played by Jessica de Gouw) who bears more than a passing resemblance to his dead wife Illona. This could potentially drive a wedge between Harker and Grayson, upsetting Grayson’s plans.
The show premiered on NBC on October 25th, 2013, and its 7th episode is set to air on January 3rd, 2014.
